Glasgow NE: Willie Bain, Labour. Sir Alex - united with team Labour
As a Glasgow man himself, Sir Alex knows how the people of Glasgow think and feel. Despite his success, Sir Alex has always stayed true to his roots.
He knows that people need help now to get through these difficult times.
I think Sir Alex’s endorsement is a real boost my campaign. He is well respected by people here – and he knows a thing or two about running a good campaign.
You can head over to my website to see what he has to say. This is me at Petershill FC last week - in the rain.
Willie Bain
Labour's by-election candidate.

Wearing a long coat and suiot in goals, pull the other one Willie, it's been a long time since you ran to turn off the bath taps never mind play fotba.
What's this I hear about you losing a lot of weight recently, atkins?
Alex Ferguson, well known friend of Alistair Campbell, who in turn is well known for lying about Iraq's WMD's and playing a key role in the death of Dr Kelly.
It's red jim but it ain't a man u short.
Blood on their hands.
Alex Ferguson, it must be great for the rich to come preaching to the poor about 'keeping the faith', next you'll have harry potter backing your negative campaign.....
Have you been to Fergie's Loch Lomond Pad willie, you could fit a fair few immigrant families in that abode.
"I was delighted to learn that Sir Alex Ferguson has decided to endorse my campaign for Glasgow North East."
LOL, so as expected, you knew nothing about it, your campaign is run from London and it's the same old hackneyed cliches that you've pulled elsewhere.
try coming up with some feasible policies Willie.
What are you proposing to cut to pay for GARL?
What are you proposing to cut to pay for additional prisons for knife carrying?
What are you proposing to cut elsewhere to further increase GCC's budget?
Do you even comprehend the incandescent rage that your 'ripping off glasgow' campaign is creating in the rest of Scotland that makes do subsidising your constituency?
Do you even care?
"Sir Alex knows how the people of Glasgow think and feel."
Rubbish.
He lives in a multimillion £££ house outside Manchester, deals every day with a multi million poound superstar team bankrolled by American billionaires.
What the hell does he know about living and working in Glasgow 2009?
"He knows that people need help now to get through these difficult times. "
They've needed help for over 74 years pal, your Johnny come lately act is an affront to the people of Glasgow NE and those that have worked hard to improve it.
Well that's a veritable one-man six-barrelled cybernat attack from Wardog there! I'm impressed!
Who wrote Sir Alex's little speech for him? Is it coincidence that he said "It needs a strong local voice ...." when you've been stressing that you're a local at every opportunity?
Sir Alex also said that you could stop the city being ripped off. Did he mean by the UK Government? He certainly could not mean by the SNP Government because as a UK MP you would not be in a position to influence the Holyrood government one way or another?
au contraire Browlie
Billy Bain as the Glasgow NE MP would be in a position to vote to increase Scotland's grant if he and the other Labour MP's (reputed sex pest JIm Devine amongst their number) so decide.
Unfortunately for our intrepd hero, he's a lightweight who won't stand up to Gordon brown anymore than the 'saviour of the Glenrothes Postoffices' MP Lindsay Roy.....
Watch Scottish questions to see Roy snuggly installed between a couple of Labour MP 'heavies', he has done absolutely nothing to save the post office sin Glenrothes, indeed we now see Royal Mail strikes for the foreseeable future.
Vote Labour - Get Deadwood
Al, there's one in the chamber ;-)
Now on yer way
"Yes, it’s hard work to reach the top but nothing to bringing up a family or running a household on a tight budget."
How exactly would you know Alex? Living in your multi million house with the lifestyle to match?
Wardog, I don't think Willie has got the hang of this blogging caper yet. He's using Scottish Labours sign on instead of getting his own; He hasn't answered any questions, or even acknowledged them.
I know the Scotsman's readership is plummeting, but even so he would reach many more people in ten minutes on here than he would in a day pressing the flesh.
Conan,
Absolutely bang on. Why for instance has he not answered my questions put to him days ago?
I repeat in case he missed them.
Do you agree that your predecessor’s MP’s expenses were excessive in that he claimed £75,000 "expenses" to run a second home with NO mortgage... while living FREE in a stately London palace?
Mr Martin – supposed to be in charge of cracking down on the Westminster gravy train - was actually milking the public by claiming the money, even though he and wife Mary lived free during the week in the Speaker's opulent grace-and-favour home in the Palace of Westminster. Unlike most MPs, who have mortgages or rents to pay on constituency homes, he owns his £400,000 detached villa in Glasgow outright.
His expenses claims for his second home, totalled £17,166 in 2007, and £75,324 over the last six years.
Q. Will you undertake not to deceive your officials, unlike your predecessor, Speaker, Michael Martin, whose salary was £138,000, deceived the public over taxpayer-funded taxi journeys taken by his wife Mary - for which she claimed more than £4,000 in expenses?
Journalists were told that she had used the taxis while shopping for food for official functions, but it emerged that the "functions" concerned were actually personal occasions.
Q. Will you refuse Air miles for trips paid for by the tax payers of Glasgow NE and elsewhere, unlike your predecessor Martin who earned more than a million Air Miles on trips to and from Glasgow, despite the fact that MPs are banned from using Air Miles for personal trips?
The trips were funded by the taxpayer - but seven members of Mr Martin's family used many of the air miles.
Come on Billie,
I DARE YOU
Not sure why Ferguson (sorry! - Sir Alex) would want to go politicking anyway. He has a nice little life for himself and whatever happens to the country short of war, he is protected from the Labour induced credit crunch, unlike so many people who (live!!!) in Scotland.
I see the comments have been removed from "The Bridge" article.
The writers have lost the "we don't need a bridge" argument but they are still hanging out their dirty washing. A bit cowardly!
Billy Boy, seems to be fighting this election on a Hollyrood basis, so I have another question for him.
Given a choice, would you rather see a Tory PM in Westminster, or a Labour Prime Minister in an independent Scotland. I know what your answer is, but I want to see your confirmation that you prefer the Tory.
