A record number of entries has been
received for The Falkirk Herald Business Awards 2010.
They all want to be be in with a chance of winning the accolade which singles them out as one of the district’s biggest, best, greenest and most enterprising businesses.
Once again sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), the awards aim to recognise all that is finest about the Falkirk area’s vibrant and growing business community.
Large and small firms, sole traders and national companies, all want to be in with a chance of being up their with the winners when the results are announced at a black tie ceremony in three months time.
Richard Bell, managing director of Johnston (Falkirk) Ltd, publishers of the Falkirk Herald, said: “When we are being told that the country’s economic recovery is still some way off, it is extremely encouraging to receive such a large number of entries for this year’s business awards, and of such a high calibre.
“It certainly shows that the Falkirk area has a strong and growing business community which augers well for the future economy, both locally and nationally.”
The competition now moves on to the judging process and Mr Bell added: “This looks like being a very difficult task this year, particularly given the standard of entries. However, when the eventual winners are announced, I am confident that everyone will agree they are worthy recipients of the accolades.”
Brian Murphy, RBS's director of business and commercial banking for Central Scotland, said: “RBS is very proud of its sponsorship of these awards again this year. I am a great believer in taking the time to reflect upon exceptional business performance and to reward that success. As such, I am looking forward to being actively involved in this awards programme over the coming weeks and learning about the achievements of businesses in the area.”
Forth Valley College is a strategic partner for the awards and Central FM an associate sponsor.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony in the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel, Polmont, on May 27, when Grangemouth-born TV presenter Kaye Adams will again be acting as host.
